Vietnam covid update from Vietnam Holding

Vietnam started the exit phase of its COVID-19 lockdown yesterday, with many people returning to their offices. Remarkably there have been no COVID deaths reported in this country of over 96 million people.

Vietnam has a cohesive, relatively homogeneous and relatively young population, and social order and control work.

The country has used social media, traditional media, songs and propaganda art to enforce the social distancing and clean-hands messaging. It was also a very early advocate of wearing masks in public.

Vietnam’s return to work is good news for everyone. The country produces masks, ventilators and other protective covering. It also has a strong science and engineering base, and is an emerging technology and business process outsourcing champion. It will be good to have such an engine of growth in an otherwise stalled global economy.
